We are proud to be a free house, located in the centre of the village in a lovely hamstone building that has been many things, including a bakery and possibly a courtroom for the Bishops of Wells!

We have suffered months of uncertainty brought on by the covid-19 pandemic and have finally and not without a lot of soul searching decided to close the Pub as of Thursday 22 July 2021. We know this will be very disappointing for the many customers who have been coming here for years and years, or for those who may have recently moved to the village.
Through this page I have often mentioned how important it is to support your local. Sadly, since re-opening for the 3rd time back in April this year, we’ve come to realise that people’s habits have changed. We can’t afford to wait for our customers to return. This would ruin us financially.
It’s been a roller-coaster of a ride for both of us and there have been good and bad times. We have made fantastic friends and have so many happy memories of music and good times and these are the things we’ll take with us.
We haven’t made any plans for ourselves or the pub other than we can’t carry on. Please understand our pain. We only made this, for us, momentous decision today, so please excuse the brevity of this announcement.
